The DXfonts Collection

The fonts which make up the DXfonts collection are public domain fonts which have been converted from outline originals to native OpenDX area format. A description of each font set is given here. They are categorized according to the TeX Live 2004 scheme for outline fonts. There are of course thousands of public domain fonts available on the internet. For really good quality however, the choice is probably much more limited. All the fonts in this collection have been taken from the TeX User Group's TeX Live distribution. Only a small fraction of the fonts in TeX Live are included here (largely for reasons of space!) but the set includes all of the fonts needed for basic use of LaTeX within OpenDX. Additionally, some important foreign language character sets (all of which can be utilized within LaTeX) are included, such as cyrillic, arabic and hebrew. TeX Live also includes some chinese and japanese fonts (too big to store here) and many asian fonts. font2dx can be used to convert these in most cases (sometimes the --negate option must be used).

Included with each set of fonts is a map file for use with dvidx. Of course, the fonts do not have to be used only with the LaTeX macros included with DXfontutils - they can be used just like any other native font within OpenDX. Beware however, that some of the fonts are lacking a space character because they were designed with TeX/LaTeX in mind (where spacings are calculated separately).

bluesky
This is the core set of Computer Modern fonts, converted from outline fonts generously donated to the public domain by a consortium including the American Mathematical Society and Blue Sky Research Inc. It comprises over 100 individual fonts and includes the AMS Euler fonts.
public
A miscellaneous collection of public domain fonts. Included are the Naskh arabic fonts (used in ArabTeX), Computer Modern Cyrillic (cmcyr), CJHebrew (used by the cjhebrew LaTeX package) and hfbright (a version of the CM Bright fonts). Also there are two special fonts from TeX Live: BrushScriptX, a public domain version of BrushScript, and Marvosym, a useful symbol font.
